FAQ

Everything you need to know about Primal Bounty collagen — and if we've missed anything, just ask us.

What is hydrolysed collagen, and why does it matter?

Hydrolysed collagen (also called collagen peptides) is collagen that has been broken down into much smaller fragments — in our case to a low molecular weight of around 2,000 Daltons. Smaller peptides dissolve easily, have no taste, and are optimised for efficient absorption. Our collagen provides Type I and Type III — the two most abundant collagen types in the human body — and is naturally rich in the amino acids glycine, proline and hydroxyproline.

How do I take Primal Bounty collagen?

One heaped tablespoon (about 10 g) daily, stirred into any hot or cold drink or into food. Most people add it to their morning coffee or tea — it dissolves cleanly and has no taste. Tip: pour your drink first, add the powder, wait a minute, then stir. Each 300 g pouch holds roughly 30 servings — a month's supply.

When should I take collagen — and does timing matter?

Timing matters far less than consistency. Morning coffee, a post-training shake, an evening tea — pick the moment you'll actually stick to and make it a daily ritual. Collagen isn't a quick fix, and we won't pretend otherwise: it rewards steady daily use over weeks and months, alongside a balanced diet and an active lifestyle.

How long until I notice anything?

Honest answer: it varies, and anyone promising overnight transformation is overselling. Published studies on collagen peptides typically run over 8–12 weeks of daily use, so we'd suggest giving it a proper run of at least two to three months as part of your routine before judging. One pouch a month makes that easy to track.

What's actually in it?

One ingredient: 100% hydrolysed bovine collagen peptides. No fillers, no flavourings, no sweeteners, no anti-caking agents — nothing else. At 97% protein by dry weight, each 10 g serving is a genuinely meaningful dose. Protein contributes to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass and to the maintenance of normal bones.

Where does your collagen come from?

Our collagen is made in Switzerland by a specialist manufacturer, from raw hides sourced exclusively from grass-fed Swiss and EU cattle — raised under some of the strictest animal welfare laws in the world — and produced to strict EU quality and safety standards.

What's the difference between bovine and marine collagen?

Bovine collagen provides both Type I and Type III collagen — the forms most abundant in the human body — while marine collagen provides Type I only. Bovine also tends to be more versatile in the kitchen (no fishy notes in lighter drinks) and suits anyone with a fish allergy or an aversion to fish-derived products. We chose grass-fed bovine for the fuller Type I & III profile and clean, neutral taste.

Does it contain allergens? Is it gluten and dairy free?

Our collagen contains no allergens, and is naturally free from gluten, dairy, soy and added sugars. It's a single-ingredient animal product, so it isn't suitable for vegetarians or vegans.

Is it halal or kosher?

Our bovine collagen is not currently certified halal or kosher. If certification status changes, we'll update this answer and the product page.

Can I take it while pregnant or breastfeeding?

As with any food supplement, if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a medical condition or are taking medication, please consult a healthcare professional before use. Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

How much is delivery, and how fast is it?

Standard UK delivery is £4.49, typically arriving within 2–3 working days of dispatch — and it's free on all orders of £35 or more (two pouches ships free). Orders are usually dispatched within 24 hours, Monday to Friday. Full details in our delivery & returns policy.

What if I change my mind?

You have 14 days from delivery to cancel your order for any reason under the Consumer Contracts Regulations — just email mail@primalbounty.co.uk. Because it's a food product, returned pouches need to be unopened with the tamper seal intact (faulty items excepted, of course). The full details are in our returns policy.
